Weekly Reading -- January 26-February 1, 2015

Ouch! This could be a very raw, intense emotional week for us.

Our first card is the Page of Cups in reverse. If you are going through a relationship breakup or any major emotional strain this week, be gentle with yourself. Pages represent children or people with childlike energy. Reversals indicate a blockage or negative aspect of that card's energy. To me, this is clear: this is a hurt child (or a person who feels like a wounded child). What would you do if a child came to you crying? Most of us would immediately reach down and hug that child, pull them close, and comfort them. Treat yourself the same way. Hug yourself figuratively. Comfort yourself. Take care of yourself.

The Ten of Swords could represent the situation that triggered these hurt, uncomfortable feelings. It's also the only upright card in this spread (as if the powerful energy of this card shot out and upended the two on either side of it). The message is so clear it almost seems to be screaming at us. We feel betrayed, stabbed in the back, devastated. Something or someone has wounded us so badly we can't get up anymore. The positive aspect is that the worst is over and dawn is on the horizon. Something better is on the way. We just can't see it yet. Our mental and emotional state is blinding us to anything positive right now.

The Death card in reverse is indicating resistance to the inevitable. This situation or relationship either HAS ended or it SHOULD end -- one or the other. But we are avoiding the pain of this reality by fighting it. It is always hard to accept when something important to us has failed. However, unless we face that painful reality, we cannot move on to anything better. We will be stuck in an unhealthy, deathlike void unless we are brave enough and love ourselves enough to accept the truth and move on. The good news: Whenever something ends, something better can happen. It might not feel that way now but as time goes on, the possibility of that something better will begin to feel like a certainty.

Those of you who might be going through any emotional pain, hang in there. BE GENTLE WITH YOURSELF. Whatever came to an end was for your greater good.

I hope you all have a peaceful week.
